Varanasi

Varanasi  is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, and the holiest of the seven sacred cities in Hinduism and Jainism.  To me Varanasi is one of the most fascinating places I have ever been and to where I love to go back again and again. I love wandering in the small and narrow alleys, among the huge number of pilgrims, dealers, and residents, within all the small stalls and shops, the beautiful coffee and tea shops, enjoying the best Lassi in the world. Walking along the holy Ganga River from one Ghat to the other until arriving at the burning Ghat where up to 100 cremations in the open air take place every day- a very moving and touching experience that connects me with the essential facts of life. I am so grateful to be able to witness and explore the many distinctive ways the various cultures of the world have developed.
